[OS X TeX] ledmac, tabular, 2-column verse, and line numbers?

Hello;

In the ledmac package, is there a way to use tabular without disabling the 
automatic line numbering?

Alternatively, can one cite a 2-column poem within ledmac without tabular?  
Verse didn't work.

Here are two lines of the poem:

Pearl.     sensin Uzellerin gingi 
Ingi.       Fairest of the young 


Tabbing gives me the correct layout: \begin{tabular}{ll}  

but bad page spacing and no line numbers until the poem is over.
