You can install all MTPro2 files system-wide and run 'sudo texhash' –  
when you then do *not* run 'sudo -H updmap-sys ...' but instead a  
personal 'updmap ...' the update, make the fonts available, would  
only work for you. Updmap can re-use the system's configuration. To  
check this:

	kpsewhich '--format=web2c files' updmap.cfg

If /usr/local/texlive/2008/texmf-config/web2c/updmap.cfg is returned,  
then your private updmap utility will re-use the system's  
configuration and add the new MAP file fragment privately.

Nevertheless, after an update of TL2008 with invocation of updmap-sys  
you would need to run updmap as well. So, leaving it all to the  
system is easier ...
