I'm going to sleep, but I'm sure other people will follow your emails.  
Please don't despair ---you'll get your Lucida fonts working soon.

You can also try

sudo updmap-sys --syncwithtrees
sudo updmap-sys --disable lucida.map
sudo updmap-sys --enable Map=lucida.map

in case something went wrong the first time.
