[OS X TeX] LaTeX based journal

Hello all,
I'm looking for a LaTeX-based journal where I can keep notes on my progress
of my research.  I know there are products like Journler and MacJournal,
however these are not (in my opinion) great for scientific purposes because
I can't make equations very nicely.  Is there something out there that does
this?
