After some download problems and then not enough disk space I finally
managed to install the huge MacTeX 2007 distribution.
Now pdflatex already produces the correct output - link boxes are
finally placed at the correct location in sidwaystables! So thanks to
both you and Herbert for the tip of updating my distribution - I
should've done that before.
However, "TeX and Ghostscript" still doesn't produce a DVI. Although
"latex" is called, it directly produces the pdf:
### This is /usr/texbin/simpdftex, Version 20070507
### /usr/texbin/latex main.tex
This is pdfTeXk, Version 3.141592-1.40.3 (Web2C 7.5.6)
...
Output written on main.pdf (82 pages, 2712029 bytes).
Transcript written on main.log.
### /usr/texbin/dvips -R -Poutline -o
/tmp/altpdflatex.13045-1215105797/main.ps main.dvi
This is dvips(k) 5.96 Copyright 2005 Radical Eye Software (www.radicaleye.com)
/usr/texbin/dvips: ! DVI file can't be opened.
### FAILED to generate /tmp/altpdflatex.13045-1215105797/main.ps ()
Strange but at least in my case not relevant anymore.
Cheers,
Martin
