[OS X TeX] Using a TrueType Font w/ PlainTeX in OSX

Can someone recommend the most current reference/guide/instructions  
for using a TrueType font with PlainTeX in OSX Leopard 10.5?  I have  
found many guides from Vieth 99 to Wierda 06.  I would like to know if  
anyone has a preferred or updated method as of 2008.  Thanks.
