If all else fails ....

For those who have been unsuccessful in downloading a working MacTeX.dmg,
Let me suggest that you get started as follows:

1) For these downloads, use Safari. We don't test with FireFox.
I'm not saying it is the cause of your trouble, but it is best to eliminate
all extraneous variables.

2) Go to <http://www.uoregon.edu/~koch/> and download BasicTeX.dmg.
This will install a small subset of TeX Live on your system, but the small subset
is remarkably capable, with TeX, LaTeX, pdfTeX, AMS-LaTeX, ConTeXt, XeTeX, etc.
All of my documents typeset fine using it. The advantage is that this is a
small download, about 39 MB, so this is a way to test without dealing with
large downloads.

3) Go to <http://www.uoregon.edu/~koch/texshop/> and download the latest TeXShop
(from the Obtaining tab).
Now test. All of this should work fine on your system without any configuration.

-------------------------------

Every so often we test downloads from <http://www.tug.org/mactex/> to make sure the sites
have workable versions. We did the last test less than a month ago and everything
was fine; there have been no updates since then. So I'm sure that the copies on
these sites are fine.

Did you first go to <http://www.tug.org/mactex> or did you first try mirror sites.
If you first tried mirrors, please try the primary MacTeX site
(it will automatically pick a mirror). And please use Safari.
Then write if this still fails.

------------------------------

I recommend the latest version, 2.13 of TeXShop, which is available here:
<http://www.uoregon.edu/~koch/texshop/>
It is much improved over the older versions. Note that version 2.13 requires Tiger.

MacTeX-2007 requires Mac OS X 10.3 or higher.
