Have a look at http://www.netspace.net.au/~mheath/ttf2pt1/

 ttf2pt1.tar.gz Jun 22 1998 True Type to Adobe Type 1 [Source 28038
                              Only] bytes

 t1utils.tar.gz The Type 1 utilities. 31969
                                                                 bytes

It gives these files:

It looks promising, and was so far the only feasible way I found unless I
wanted to buy at least a Mac and probably some other software. I tried
some ttf fonts shipped with MS Windows 3.1, but did not get useful
results out of all of them. Perhaps I didn't use fontinst properly.
For some reason the author has not (yet?) put it onto CTAN.
