TUGboat
The Communications of the TeX Users Group

Press Figure

The TUGboat journal is a unique benefit of joining TUG. It is currently published three times a year and distributed to all TUG members (for that year). Anyone can also buy copies from the TUG store.

We post articles online after about one year for the benefit of the entire TeX community, but TUGboat is funded entirely by member support. So please consider joining TUG if you find TUGboat useful.

TUGboat publishes the proceedings of the TUG Annual Meetings, and sometimes other conferences.

A list of other publications by TUG, and by other user groups is available.

Submitting articles to TUGboat

We very much appreciate potential contributions to TUGboat. If you have any ideas for articles, columns, or other items, do not hesitate to email us at TUGboat@tug.org. For tips and technical information on writing articles, please see the TUGboat style page, and feel free to write us if questions or problems. All authors receive a free copy of the TUGboat issue in which their contribution appears, regardless of whether they are TUG members.

We welcome articles at all levels, especially tutorial and practical ones. Articles often make a good companion to the full documentation for a package, including such things as the rationale and background for the software, while not delving into every technical detail.

For style, first, please try to be concise. You'll spend less time writing, and more people will actually read the article. Second, be precise, but informal, as if you were giving an explanation to an interested friend. And third, avoid the pomposity and passive voice prevalent in some academic journals.

Copyright to articles in TUGboat remain with the authors, but submission in itself grants us permission to publish both on paper and online.

Submissions to TUGboat are reviewed by volunteers and checked by the Editor before publication. However, the authors are still assumed to be the experts. Questions regarding content or accuracy should therefore be directed to the authors, with an information copy to the Editor.

Issues not received?

If you are missing an issue, or have not received your subscription, please report the details, and your current mailing address, to the TUG office.
